Listen to the CD

Cynthia began singing at a very young age and, as a preacher's daughter, it was not unusual for her to find herself singing a sermonic solo, scheduled or impromptu. During her early teens, Cynthia sang with the youth choir at her late grandfather's church - Norton's Temple Church of God in Christ in Houston. Outside of her regular church commitment, she sang at many other churches in the Houston area and in other nearby Texas cities with family in a community type choir and a small group with her sister and cousin.

From a young teen, Cynthia has performed from California to Florida, inspiring many to ask, "Do you have anything recorded that I can have or buy?" After years of being overwhelmed with the question, Cynthia chose to hide and not face the calling on her life. Other than from the secular market, it seemed there was no one there to put the wind in her sails and she was afraid to sail on her own.

Cynthia chose to satisfy the singing itch by participating on praise and worship teams in Houston and Beaumont. In 2004 and 2005, Cynthia  opened each of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo shows with the National Anthem and has performed before persons such as President George H. W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush, Cynthia Woods-Mitchell, Zina Garrison-Jackson, and scores of mayors and dignitaries. She has opened for many events including the Houston Rockets, Houston Comets, Houston Astros, Houston Texans, the Chevy’s Freedom Over Texas Festival, and NASCAR in Dallas.

After deciding to take the reins and become an independent vocalist, the learning curve began. More each day, Cynthia finds herself where God wants her to be. While In Colorado, in 2005, she crossed paths with Jeff Nelson, a musician and producer from her past. A new partnership was formed and the chance meeting was a confirmation that her steps were ordered by God. After countless conversations, Cynthia and Jeff agreed to enter into the production of her first full length CD.

The writing and production process for Cynthia's self-titled debut record stretched between Franklin, Tennessee and Houston, Texas. The fruits of that process will soon be available for all to taste. During the process, Cynthia decided that having her own production company would serve her better in the long run, so Cynsings Studios was formed and is responsible for the visual designs for her new CD and her website.

Cynthia's hope is to walk face into the opportunities given for her to open her mouth and sing with the purpose of giving hope to those who lack it, planting seeds of Christ's love, soothing restless souls and making you think.....
